Making the World Beautiful One Plant at a Time
Landscapes, Gardens & More in the Florida Panhandle
DECEMBER 2018
Just in time for Christmas. Hurricane Michael laid all our Christmas trees down as if they were tired and needed a nap. With the help of some young men, we have them all standing back up with a stake by each. They have been trimmed and are ready for the season. The fields are open, potted trees are here along with imported Frasier Firs. Live wreaths are being made daily. Michael might have been a big BLOW but he is gone, cleanup is underway along with repairs and an uplifted spirit that says maybe we aren’t a 100 percent yet but we are Thankful and well on the way.
Our yards have taken a beating and the grass is torn up along with damaged shrubbery and missing fruit trees and pecans. Now is the time to make some of those changes we have been planning for some time. Put in the fruit and nut trees we have always wanted. Change the shrubbery and look of the landscape. Don’t worry about the grass unless you have burr weed or some other plant that you have been trying to get rid of. There are pre-emergent sprays that you can use or call a professional to take care of it for you.
Now is also the time to think about freeze protection for citrus trees and other plants that are sensitive to the cold. Frost cloth, Christmas tree lights that heat up and water are all options for you. Many plants do not need freeze protection. If you are in doubt, call us at 850-638-8243 or text us at this number, we will be glad to help.
As our homes are repaired, landscapes put back together, Thanksgiving celebrated with more meaning than ever, we are getting ready for Christmas. All of us celebrate this time of the year in our own way. My family and I will celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. God gave us the gift of his Son and his Son gave us the gift of his life.
Merry Christmas to each of you and if we can help, please contact us at 850-638-8243, maphistreefarm@bellsouth.net or visit us at 1534 Orange Hill Rd, Chipley, FL 32428.
