Landscapes, Gardens & More in the Florida Panhandle

December 2019

Well December is here, and it is time to purchase Christmas trees and decorations. We are as ready as can be with Michael last year and the damage he did to our trees. There are some trees in the field, and we are getting Frasier firs shipped in. We hope to have a tree for everyone that needs one. We will also have fresh wreaths for sale along with tree stands.

It is time to plant fruit trees and we have a good supply of apples, peaches, pears, persimmons, figs and many others. Also, the citrus trees are here. We have satsuma and kumquats along with Meyers lemons and others.

If you have already planted fruit trees, it is time to spray dormant oil on them. A second application may be made in January. The dormant oil will smother egg cases left by insects and the spores of fungus. This will give you a clean tree to start the new year with.

Don’t forget to protect your citrus trees. This can be done with Christmas lights (not LED). You may also use water to protect the graph on them. Also, a foam insulation may be used for a short period of time and then removed as summer approaches.

As we enjoy the Christmas season, let not forget those less fortunate than us. Enjoy family during the season and worship at your place of worship. We would not have Christmas if it was not for the birth of Jesus Christ. ‘Remember the reason for the season.”
